For most BxSci seniors, the senior prom is a highly anticipated event. It’s a fun celebration after four years of hard work, and it’s a memory that they will treasure for a long time – maybe for the rest of their lives. Not surprisingly, the cost of holding a Bronx Science prom is high, in part because there aren’t many party spaces in NYC that are big enough to accommodate the entire senior class (approximately 700 students). In recent years, the cost of a senior prom ticket has been between $200 and $220.
The PA would like to reduce the cost of senior prom for every senior. We propose a contribution of $10,000 to help cover senior prom expenses. The money would come from the PA’s existing surplus of unallocated funds, and therefore won’t require any additional fundraising. With this PA contribution, the price of a senior prom ticket can be reduced to approximately $185. (Additionally, the Alumni Foundation has offered financial aid to any senior student who would like to attend the prom but can’t afford a ticket!)
