Welcome back! We hope you and your families had a chance to recharge over the midwinter recess.
The PA is gearing up for a busy stretch! In addition to our regularly scheduled PA meetings, we have a number of important events coming up over the next several months. We will continue to rely on your participation for what promises to be a lively and eventful spring.
Before we launch into what’s coming up, at last month’s PA meeting, we elected our Nominating Committee for our PA Executive Board and School Leadership Team (SLT) elections, to be held on May 15th. Please stay tuned for an important message from the Nominating Committee regarding nominations deadlines and other details in next week’s newsletter. We are excited to see the diverse talent and skills our community has to offer!
Now onto events! To start, Superintendent Fia Davis is inviting our parents and guardians to the next Virtual State of the District Town Hall on We would like to remind our community how meaningful BxSci participation is at these events. At the last town hall, one of our very own BxSci students gave a presentation, so you never know what to expect! Details will be provided in the next newsletter.
Then please join us at school on Wednesday, March 13 at 7 PM for our next PA meeting to discuss Bronx Science summer opportunities. The PA will provide a light dinner at 6:30 PM prior to the 7 PM meeting. This is an in-person meeting only and will not be recorded. Please find the agenda for the meeting here and RSVP here.
Can’t make the evening PA meeting, or have more questions? Summer opportunities will be discussed again at the next Coffee With The Principal on Monday, March 18 at 8:30 AM, where Principal Hoyle will be joined by a panel of students. Please RSVP for this event here by 9 AM on Thursday, March 14.
Closing out March events, the Accepted Students Open House will take place on Wednesday, March 27. The school will be buzzing with excitement from newly accepted students and their families, along with our own BxSci students who work hard to prepare for these marquee events. We will need a lot of help, so please save the date, and sign up to volunteer here.
As we look ahead to April, get geared up for the Spring Gala on Thursday, April 11! Buy your tickets now before they sell out. Also, the Winter Raffle is underway! This is your chance to win an Apple MacBook Pro. See the Gala posts below for more information on how to buy your gala and raffle tickets and support our school.
We have additional events in April, May, and June where we will be calling on volunteers to help. Did we mention there are also social outings in the works, which will give us a chance to just kick back, relax and connect? See the Looking Ahead post below for more events, and please save the dates. More information to follow.
