November 5, 2023
Dear Fellow Bronx Science Parents and Guardians,
And just like that, we fall back into standard time as we begin November!
This last Thursday, we returned in person after four years for our Annual Comedy Night at Gotham Comedy Club. Host Charles McBee and comedians Ariel Elias, Casey Balsham, and Brian Scott McFadden definitely found our funny bones! It was great fun to share both company and much needed laughs in person about NYC, parenting, and marriage with those of you who were able to join us. NYC might write a lot of the jokes for us, but it takes some funny folks to turn them around so we can see them! Thank you to event chairperson and board member Nicole Allen for organizing this sold-out success. See below for a few photos!
Our Annual Giving drive is underway, supporting our kids in their academic and extracurricular endeavors. So far, we are approaching 25% of our direct giving goal. As a reminder, these funds go directly to our kids to help support activities, such as our City Champion Girls Cross Country team, Borough Champion Boys Cross Country team, our undefeated Girls Volleyball team, and our top-notch Speech and Debate team. If you have not yet made a donation, we encourage you to do so at this link. Any amount that is meaningful to you is meaningful to our kids.
Our next Parents’ Association meeting is coming up on November 15, 2023, at 7 PM in person at school. We are pleased to be welcoming Adam Ingersoll from Compass Education, who will be sharing insights into the college application and testing process in a test optional, newly digital landscape. We strongly encourage in person attendance, both to support our speaker who is giving generously of his time, and to foster a better dialogue around your questions. You can find an agenda for the business portion of the meeting here. A link for a hybrid option will be provided in next week’s newsletter. This meeting will not be recorded.
The next Coffee With the Principal will be held at the school on November 20, 2023, and will feature information about accessing resources in Guidance. Afterward, there will be an opportunity to visit the Holocaust Museum. We are in need of two volunteers to help our hospitality team set up and clean up. Please reach out to us directly if you are able to help that morning at hospitality@bxsciencepa.org. For more details about the event, please see the post below.
We hope to see you soon!
Sincerely,
Elizabeth Polkovitz, Jennifer Allen-Cheng, and Christine Kattan
