Bronx High School of Science Parents' Assocation

Message from Our Co-Presidents – March 18, 2018

March 18, 2018

Dear Bronx Science parents,

We hope you will take a few minutes today to do the following three things. Each one is a quick and easy task that could make a tremendous difference for our school and our children.

Fill out the NYC School Survey. This is an important survey that every parent should complete. Simply go to nycschoolsurvey.org and take the “Parent & Guardian Survey.” A summary of the survey results is made public, and a high response rate from parents can help Bronx Science attract the best faculty AND the best students to our school. The survey also helps the Bronx Science staff and leadership decide what the school’s priorities should be. The deadline is this Friday, March 23, so don’t delay!

Request repainting of the crosswalk in front of the school. Drivers sometimes don’t see the traffic light or the crosswalk on Bronx Science Blvd (formerly West 205th St) directly in front of the school. The crosswalk is now barely visible because the lines and markings have faded. Help keep our school community safe by completing this online complaint form to 311 (click here). Let city officials hear from you, so that they can address this safety issue quickly.

Reserve your free spot to see Screenagers in Manhattan or Queens. The PA is hosting two free showings of the acclaimed documentary Screenagers (in English, with Mandarin subtitles). The film, which has been shown at schools across the country, is about the challenges of parenting in a digital world. Sign up for either the Manhattan event (April 11, Wed, at 6pm in midtown) or the Queens event (April 14, Sat, at 10am in Forest Hills) by clicking here. Both events will also feature a guest speaker. Space is limited, so be sure to register.

We urge you to please do all of the above today. They are small actions that could make a big impact!
