Every year, many BxSci parents volunteer their time and talent to help our school. In recent issues of this newsletter, we’ve featured Lise Aug, Lidija Markes, Jing Gao, and Chris Harwood. Today we’d like you to learn more about another parent who helps the PA with several important initiatives.
Sau Wai Chiu is a skilled graphic designer who creates many of the icons and images that appear in the weekly PA e-blast (the newsletter you are reading at this very moment). She has also conceptualized and/or produced some wonderful-looking fundraising materials for the PA, such as the animated gifs for #GivingTuesday, the flier you all received in the mail in mid-December, as well as promotional material for the upcoming Comedy Night. All told, she spends a few hours every week on PA-related materials.
Sau Wai lives in Queens with her husband and two children, one of whom is a BxSci freshman. Here’s what Sau Wai has to say about volunteering at school:
“Graphic design is my lifelong passion. Therefore, I wouldn’t turn down any opportunities to create beautiful visual communication materials for my kids’ schools. Volunteering for the BxSci PA keeps me informed about what’s happening in the school. I especially enjoy the teamwork with the other brilliant BxSci parents. Everyone here has different talents, and we work well together. Please come join us!”
Our thanks to Sau Wai for making our PA communication materials look so good!
If you, too, would like to volunteer in some capacity, please fill out this online form. Volunteer opportunities abound throughout the year, and not all of them require you to travel to the Bronx. By volunteering, you’ll meet new people, have some fun, and develop an even greater appreciation for how wonderful our school is.
