In past years, the PA has done an annual phone-a-thon in efforts to raise funds for the school. Parent volunteers trekked to the Bronx on several evenings in November and worked the phones, calling up every single Bronx Science household to ask for a donation.
This year, the PA Executive Board has decided to try something new. BxSci families won’t be getting an evening phone call. Instead, you’ll receive a text message on #GivingTuesday (November 28), as a reminder and encouragement to donate to Bronx Science. The text message will include a link through which you can make your donation. We hope this will be a more effective, less intrusive, and more efficient way of raising money for our school. And it will be a terrific opportunity for BxSci households to participate in #GivingTuesday, which is now a global celebration of philanthropy and generosity.
You don’t even have to wait until #GivingTuesday! If you’d like to donate now, simply text BXSCI to 56512. Of course, you can also donate online or mail a donation to our school address. Any amount will help, and will be greatly appreciated. Keep in mind that the PA is a 501(c)(3) organization and your donation may be tax deductible. Also, ask your employer to match your gift.
