Hello Bronx Science Parents:
Now that it is getting dark out earlier, it makes even more sense to talk with your kids about safety around the Bronx Science neighborhood; so far this school year, four Bronx Science students have been mugged around our neighborhood. Shockingly, three of these incidents occurred during daylight hours, as students left campus for lunch.
Please remind your teens that the safest place to be during lunch is on the Bronx Science campus. If they absolutely must leave, they should be sure to travel in groups. And parents, you can also help out. If you are in your car picking up your child after clubs or athletics, please let the coach or your student know if you are willing to offer a ride to the subway for a student who may not have one. And finally, you can remind your student that there are MTA busses (Bx10 and Bx26) that stop on the corner of 205th Street and Paul Avenue that go to the #1, #4 and B/D subway stations.
Dr. Donahue has requested greater police presence around our school, but in the meantime the surest way to stay safe is for our kids to remain on campus, and to travel with others or by bus when heading to the subway.
We hope that you all have a safe and a lovely Thanksgiving, and a restful break,
