All year, we’ve been impressed by and grateful for the many parents who have devoted their time and talent to support our school. Read about some of those parents here.
For our final Parent Spotlight of the school year, we’re featuring freshman parent Barbara Denham. When the PA needs to communicate with the Bronx Science community, Barbara works behind the scenes to make it happen. She is amazing at spreadsheets, so she has worked her magic to help the PA in a variety of ways: creating the voting roster for the PA and SLT elections last fall, preparing mailing lists and checking them for inconsistencies and errors, assisting with fundraising campaigns, and ensuring that PA letters and event invitations are sent to the correct people. She makes sure that spreadsheets are in the correct format and contain the proper fields, so that they can be used within the PA’s various software tools and programs.
Barbara and her family live in Manhattan. In addition to Nathan, a 9th grader at Bronx Science, she has an 11th grader at American Studies and a 7th grader at Booker T. Washington Middle School. Barbara works in the commercial real estate industry as an economist. In her spare time, she likes to run, swim and play in the city. Here’s what she says about volunteering at Bronx Science:
“I was thrilled to get involved in the Bronx Science parent community and lend my expertise. It has not only taught me so much about our school but it has given me a deep appreciation for the amazing efforts of so many dedicated parents.”
Our thanks to Barbara for helping the PA communicate with BxSci parents! (Click here for all of this year’s Parent Spotlights.)
