Dear Bronx Science Families,
You may have heard that there was an accident in front of school last week, where a student was hit by an MTA bus. In addition, routine police activity on Harris field resulted in the issuance of one summons and the arrests of two students on Friday. The Bronx Science School Safety Committee (which includes Dr. Donahue, Ms. Loukissas and our own PA rep Ivette Perez) will hold its monthly meeting this Thursday, and will be discussing ways to make the streets and surrounding area of Bronx Science safer for our students. If you have any questions or issues you’d like raised at the meeting, please be in touch with Ivette at safetychair@bxsciencepa.org.
At the Fall College Night last Thursday, parents heard about the college admissions process from a real pro – Christoph Guttentag, Duke University’s Dean of Undergraduate Admissions. He has more than 25 years of experience and gave helpful advice to our families about navigating the intense process. Thank you to our college office team for putting together an outstanding program.
Coming this week: No school on Monday, Oct. 12, and on Wednesday, Oct. 14, freshmen, sophomores and juniors will be taking the PSAT.
Wishing everyone a pleasant and restful long weekend,
Ellen Dubin and Betsy Newberry
