Dear Bronx Science families,
The second semester is under way, which means it’s already time to start planning for next school year! That’s true for students as well as for parents. If your child is in 9th, 10th, or 11th grade, it’s a good idea to familiarize yourself with the BxSci course selection process. The 2018-19 course guide will be available on the school website in the coming weeks. If your child is a senior, you’re probably already preparing yourself (mentally and emotionally) for sending your child off to college.
All of these concerns will be addressed at our PA meeting next Monday night, Feb. 12, at 7pm. You’ll be able to choose which of these sessions you’d like to attend.
Course Selection: The school’s Assistant Principals will explain how your child can select which courses to take next year, the timeline for doing so, and the various types of “special permission” classes and electives. (This will be a repeat of the presentation given at the Breakfast with the Principal on Jan. 17.)
Parenting a College Student: Parents of BxSci alumni will share what they wish they knew before their kids left for college, how often they communicate with their college-age kids, how they keep tabs on their children’s spending, and so on. Our panelists will be parents of college freshmen at Binghamton, Brown, Hamilton, UMich, and UPenn.
As always, Vallo will kindly provide free round-trip transportation for parents from Manhattan and Queens. Click here for pickup times and locations, and don’t forget to call 718-961-7600 to reserve your bus seat. See you at the meeting!
