What can parents do to help their teens do well in school and to relieve (rather than cause) anxiety? To find out, come to our next PA meeting on Thursday, January 18, at 7pm. Our guest speaker that evening will be Jed Applerouth, an education innovator and nationally certified counselor. Jed holds a PhD in educational psychology and has done research on learning strategies, motivation, memory, and student cognition. He will speak to BxSci parents about effective study habits, gender-based differences in performance and learning, and various ways that parents can most effectively help their teens both academically and emotionally.
Jed has spoken at Stuyvesant and at other top high schools, not just in NYC but across the country. Read our Q&A with him here. At the end of the meeting, he will raffle off two free consultation packages that include a SAT/ACT diagnostic test and a tutoring session.
As always, Vallo will provide free round-trip bus service for parents from Manhattan and Queens. Click here for pickup times and locations, and don’t forget to call 718-961-7600 to reserve your bus seat.
