It’s hard to believe that it is fall when we can still go out in shorts and t-shirts, but the Halloween decorations are up throughout the city and that does tell us that fall is actually here!
This week, Principal Rachel Hoyle hosted the first Coffee with the Principal of the school year. AP of Guidance Andrew Nasser and Director of Safety & Security Vana Loukissas gave a very informative presentation on school safety. Parents/guardians met members of the School Safety Committee, including officers from the local 52nd Precinct. The panelists explained their individual roles in securing our students. Parents/guardians had an opportunity to ask questions and enjoyed a light breakfast coordinated by Hospitality Co-Chair Fotini Marcopulos. Please click HERE for photos from the meeting. Those who were able to stay were given a moving tour of our Holocaust Museum, thanks to Parent Coordinator Rebecca Barreras and AP of Social Studies David Colchamiro.
On Thursday, our Parents’ Association conducted our fall election. For our elections to run smoothly, they require the hard work and dedication of many people that we would like to acknowledge. But first, congratulations and welcome to Ami Kantawala, Sneha Kelkar and Sovannary Tan, our newly elected Executive Board Members at Large, and to Stacey Berg Keller, our new School Leadership Team parent representative. We look forward to serving with you!
Don’t Forget to Contribute to the Annual Fund! 
Our Annual Giving drive is underway, supporting our kids in their academic and extracurricular endeavors. So far, we are approaching 30% of our direct giving goal, and we need your help to raise that percentage! As a reminder, these funds go directly to our kids to help support activities, such as our City Champion Girls Cross Country team, Borough Champion Boys Cross Country team, our undefeated Girls Volleyball team, and our top-notch Speech and Debate team. Comedy Night! 
Many thanks to everyone who purchased tickets to our December 3 Comedy Night! The event is sold out which is great news! For those who didn’t get a chance to buy a ticket, we will be holding a spring community event and we hope you will be able to join us. More information on that event will be shared in the new year.
