Dear Fellow Bronx Science Parents and Guardians,
Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms in our community.
The PA celebrates each one of you today!
The main highlight this week is our virtual meeting and election this Wednesday, May 15 at 7 PM. Principal Hoyle and AP Andrew Nasser will present the State of the School, which recaps the year at Bronx Science. This is also an exciting time for the PA, as we get ready to vote in new PA leadership! We are thrilled about the talented and diverse slate of candidates who have stepped forward, and we encourage you to come and meet them on Wednesday.
You can find the bios for all Executive Board and School Leadership Team (SLT) candidates in English here and in Chinese here. Nominations will be taken from the floor for the Member at Large and School Leadership Team positions during the election. The nomination process for all other positions is closed. If you would like more information, please email nominations@bxsciencepa.org.
The agenda for the evening can be found here. April meeting minutes will be voted on and can be found here. We will also be presenting the 2024-25 PA budget, which will be voted on during the June PA meeting.
Registration is required for the May 15 meeting and election! Please register here with the same email at which you receive school communications. The meeting link will be emailed to you once you register. Please note this is a virtual meeting, and only the election portion of the meeting will be recorded. Only parents and guardians of current students are allowed to vote in this election.
A reminder to also register here for the last Coffee with the Principal by 9 AM this Thursday, May 16. The event date is Monday, May 20 at 8:30 AM at the school, and will be a recap of the State of the School report. This is also a great chance to meet with administration and other parents and guardians.
Save the date! Earlier this spring, we mentioned that the PA will also be holding a special event on teens and substance abuse. We invite you to join us on Thursday, May 23 at 7 PM for a virtual presentation on this important topic. More details will follow in a separate email.
As we approach the end of the school year, the PA will feature the folks who help keep the PA running smoothly.
This week, we thank Jamileh-Sofia diGuida, Jeffrey Dowd and Roxana Cheng, members 
of our Newsletter team who beautifully format our weekly newsletters. The PA also thanks Chern Goh, Dorie Paparo, Rob Tucker, and Monika Wunderer, our Webmaster team who update all things PA website-related! And when it comes to our social media sites, we are fortunate to have Alice Lee, our Social Media Chair, who skillfully manages these sites with creative artistry! It has been incredible to witness the dedication and care these members put into helping our community, and it’s been an absolute pleasure working with them.
Several of these members are senior parents and we wish them all the best moving forward! That also means we are seeking individuals to join the Newsletter and the Webmaster teams NOW so that the PA is ready for Fall 2024. A reminder that the PA has MANY events and volunteer needs coming up in just a few weeks. The school relies on the support of our strong BxSci parent community and thankfully you always deliver! Please see the Volunteer Opportunities post for the list of events and signup links as well as an opportunity to join our Welcome Committee. If you are a senior parent, join us in person and take an opportunity to walk the school halls for one of the last few times.
We look forward to seeing many of you at the virtual PA meeting and election this Wednesday and look forward to seeing a number of you in person at the Yankees game on Friday!
