Dear Fellow Bronx Science Parents and Guardians,
It was wonderful to see so many people at our PA meeting this past week! We particularly appreciate everyone braving the cold to join us for our monthly meeting and for the informative panel, “Teens and Mental Health,” led by AP Andrew Nassar, that featured three adolescent/teen mental health professionals, Dr. Heather Goodman, Dr. Jane Aronson and Jessica Yoon, LMSW. The presentation was engaging and instructive and we thank our panelists for providing valuable guidance on how to support our teens and for answering parents’ questions. Please see our “In the Spotlight” post below for images from Wednesday’s meeting as well as our expression of thanks to those who provided a delicious dinner for our attendees.
Please “Save the Date” for our next Parents’ Association meeting on Tuesday, February 13, which willfeature a repeat of the course selection presentation for our 9th, 10th, and 11th grade parents. For our senior parents and those who are comfortable with the course selection process, we will feature a separate panel of former Bronx Science parents/guardians who will share their thoughts about “What I Wish I Knew Before My Kid Went to College.” These are two of our most enlightening presentations and panels, and we hope that you will be able to join us. This will be an in-person meeting and an RSVP for the meeting will be shared in the next couple of weeks.Many of you logged on to attend the remote Parent Town Hall with Superintendent Fia Davis that was held on Thursday, January 18. Bronx Science’s presence was noted and appreciated by our leaders, so we are very grateful that many of you participated in this community event. Representation from each school is tracked by the Superintendent’s office, and we have a terrific history of strong attendance, so we are proud of our school community for its presence at these town halls. Thank you!
This May, we will hold elections for all the 2024–2025 Parents’ Association positions. We are currently looking for several individuals to join our Nominating Committee, which runs the elections. If you are interested in joining the committee, please email corecordingsecretary@bxsciencepa.org. We are continuing to look for volunteers to fill several roles that are critical for the successful operation of the Parents’ Association. Please see the posts below for more information about these positions, the upcoming Spring Gala, and our ongoing Annual Appeal. We are very grateful to those of you who have already contributed to the Annual Appeal and encourage others to do so; any amount that is meaningful to you is meaningful to us!
