Show Our Pride!
June 4, 2023
Dear Fellow Bronx Science Parents and Guardians,
Today, the Bronx Science Foundation is hosting their annual Alumni Day, which reconnects BxSci alumni for a day filled with academic talks, activities and much more. The PA is grateful for the Bronx Science Foundation’s commitment to our students, and we are delighted to show our appreciation at this event. A big THANK YOU to all the parent volunteers who are at the school today helping out!
We have many parents behind the scenes who are instrumental to a well-functioning PA, and we continue to acknowledge these amazing folks this month. This week, we recognize Roxana Cheng and Jamileh-Sofia diGuida, our Constant Contact Managers, who beautifully format our weekly e-newsletters and other special email communications. We also recognize Alice Lee, our Social Media Chair, who keeps our PA social media accounts updated with important information and with such artistry!
The PA has several events coming up this week, but we have a critical need for more volunteers for the Incoming Parent Breakfast on Thursday, June 8. This event allows new parents and guardians to connect and meet with the PA and school administration while their students attend Camp Science. It is one of the initial impressions some of our new incoming families will have of our community, and a significant opportunity for the PA to engage with the next generation of BxSci families. Please help us extend a warm welcome by signing up to assist with hospitality or merchandise here.
Next week, the PA will also play an important role in the Prospective Students Open House on Wednesday, June 7. This historically has been an energetic and fun evening, which allows our community to proudly showcase what Bronx Science has to offer. There are still slots available here, and we welcome any additional help.
Shifting gears, the NYC Health Department, along with Mayor Adams, is hosting an event focused on social media and the impacts on mental health on June 8. They are making an appeal for student volunteers to participate and help make a difference! Please see the Youth Mental Health Event post below for full details.
Last but certainly not least, we are looking forward to our annual end-of-year outdoor social at Ellington in the Park on Saturday, June 10 from 4:30-7 PM. Bring your family and friends, a ball or Frisbee and enjoy the fabulous views of the Hudson and great company! This is also our chance to thank our community and to wish our senior families all the best. We have a pretty special community, if we must say so ourselves. For more details, see the Ellington in The Park post below.
We hope you can join us in person this week to welcome incoming families, prospective families and at Ellington on June 10!
Sincerely,
Christine Kattan, Jayesh Patel and Elizabeth Polkovitz
