Dear Fellow Bronx Science Parents and Guardians,
It’s been a remarkable school year, and we have a lot to be encouraged by!
This was evident from Principal Rachel Hoyle’s and AP Andrew Nasser’s State of the School report delivered during last week’s PA meeting. The report included not only news of our students’ achievements, celebrations, and solid college admissions results, but also highlighted some of our students’ challenges and how the school is listening and providing them with additional support. Principal Hoyle and AP Nasser expressed their deep appreciation for our PA community’s support, and the PA is proud of our strong partnership with the school and the Bronx Science Foundation (formerly the Alumni Foundation).
If you registered for the final Coffee with the Principal of the school year, you have another chance to hear from Principal Hoyle and AP Nasser this Tuesday, May 23, at 8:30 AM at school. This will be your opportunity to chat with administration, followed by a tour of the Manne Research Institute!
The PA also held our spring elections this past week. Congratulations to the newly elected members of our Executive Board and the
School Leadership Team (SLT). We are thrilled to be working alongside such a diverse group of parents and guardians, who bring their talents and skills to serve our community. Please see below for a list of all elected members, along with a message from Co-President-Elect, Jennifer Allen-Cheng.
Running elections requires a tremendous amount of preparation and diligence from a dedicated team. It is our responsibility to ensure free and fair elections, and last week showcased we were able to do just that. We want to wholeheartedly thank our Nominating Committee Co-Chair, Jodi Solomon, for steering us through election day, the Nominating Committee for their meticulous work, Bryan Liff for technology support, and to our post-election ballot verifiers (see In the Election Spotlight post below for full team acknowledgments). A special thank-you once again to Parent Coordinator, Rebecca Barreras, and Bronx Science’s Chief Information Officer, Willie Lugo, whose assistance is a critical part of running our PA elections.
Last, but certainly not least, we thank all who attended the PA meeting and participated in the election. We are always energized by our community’s interest and engagement. Your involvement improves and strengthens our community, and we cannot do it without you.
Our next and final PA meeting of the school year will be Tuesday, June 13, at 7:00pm, and will feature a panel of returning BxSci
grads, who will discuss their experiences in college and life after Bronx Science. Please join us in person! We appreciate the time and valuable insight our alumni students share with us, and in return, the PA would love to fill the room to foster a better dialogue and show them our engagement. We will also be voting on the 2023-24 PA budget, which was presented last week. For those not able to attend in person, remote meetings details will be included in the June 11 PA e-newsletter. This meeting will not be recorded.
We only have a few more chances to gather this year, and we encourage you to come out and meet your community! It’s a pretty special group of people, and we have a lot to share with each other and celebrate.
Batter up! This Thursday, May 25, at 7:05 PM, is the BxSci Yankees outing, and this is your last chance to grab seats. It’s a PA fundraiser, but more importantly, it’s a lot of fun!

An important reminder that we have a lot of events coming up. We know it’s a busy time of year for all, but we need MANY
volunteers to help welcome back our supportive alumni, celebrate our outgoing seniors, welcome new families, and showcase our school to prospective students.
