Dear Fellow Bronx Science Parents & Guardians,
Last week, our Parents’ Association conducted our fall election. For our elections to run smoothly, they require the hard work and dedication from many people we would like to acknowledge. But first, congratulations and welcome to Xia Li, Helen Qiu and Amy Xue, our newly elected Executive Board Members-at-Large, and to Yanyun Wang, our new School Leadership Team parent representative. We look forward to serving with you.
The PA extends our heartfelt gratitude to every candidate who stepped forward to serve our community, to our Nominating Committee and to our post-election ballot verifiers (see below). A special thank you to Parent Coordinator, Rebecca Barreras and Bronx Science’s Chief Information Officer, Willie Lugo whose assistance was a critical part of running this election.
Last, but certainly not least, thank all of YOU for your participation in our meeting and election, and for making your voices heard. We were encouraged by the turnout and invite you to continue to attend our monthly meetings, whether in person or remotely. The more we gather, the greater our community can become.After the election, AP Andrew Nasser (Hufflepuff House) gave us a glimpse into what the Guidance Office is hearing from students, followed by some useful tips on how we can help them. Included in that advice was changing the types of questions we ask our children to facilitate better connection and communication. Some suggested questions can be found here. Upcoming Events
Our main highlight for this week is the virtual Comedy Night with Zarna Garg and friends on Thursday, October 27 from 7-8 PM. Zarna is a comedian, a lawyer turned award-winning screenwriter, an immigrant, and more importantly, a proud former Bronx Science parent who appreciates and values this community and continues to give back to us. Her journey to becoming a comedian with a cult-like following is remarkable, and we are thrilled that Zarna and her comedian friends are back to make us laugh and raise funds for our school’s tremendous extracurricular offerings. Grab your family and friends and make a night of it. The more the merrier! While you are at it, get a ticket for one of our hard-working teachers! Tickets can be purchased via Eventbrite here.
The next Spring Gala Committee Zoom meeting is also this week, on Tuesday, October 25th from 7-8 PM! Please see the Spring Gala post below for details. This is a great way to get involved and help organize our most popular event of the school year.

Parents and guardians gathered at the “Coffee with the Principal” on October 20th to hear from the School Safety Committee during the annual Town Hall Meeting. Participants also received updates from the Guidance Office.
