Dear Bronx Science Families:
Here we go!
This year, “Back-to-School” has meaning none of us could have anticipated back in March, 2020. After eighteen months of virtual everything, plus all-to-real anxiety, hardship, and illness, our kids will finally return (or arrive for the first time!) to the doorstep of a building we have sorely missed. And, while conditions in New York and the rest of the country are not yet as we would like, now is a good time to try to focus on everything we have to look forward to: new friendships, rewarding opportunities, and broader understandings of our communities, our children and ourselves.
When school starts on Monday, September 13th, let’s acknowledge that after such a long hiatus, there will be some unexpected challenges. And let’s also resolve, individually and collectively, to give our teachers, faculty and staff the resources and the latitude they need to help our kids succeed.
We know there are no magic remedies to restore a true sense of normalcy, but we will leverage the things we can control to help the school deliver the best Bronx Science education to our children. How can we help achieve that? It starts with all of us. Please advocate, donate, engage, volunteer. Your involvement can make an enormous difference.
Finally, while we plan to hold our first few meetings of the year virtually (see below), we remain hopeful that we will get to meet many of you in person as soon as conditions allow. Until then, we wish those of us who celebrate it a Happy Jewish New Year and to all of us, a great Labor Day Weekend!

You should have received an email this week from the school announcing a Back to the School Building Town Hall to be hosted by Principal Rachel Hoyle this Thursday, September 2nd at 3:00 p.m. If you have any questions or concerns, you can submit them using this link.
The school will send a Zoom link for the Town Hall on Thursday.
Please mark your calendars. The first general PA meeting of the year will be held virtually on:
Wednesday, September 22nd at 7:00 p.m.
Freshman parents who are interested in joining the PA Executive Board or the SchoolLeadership Team (SLT) will have an opportunity to step forward. Elections will be held at our October 19th meeting. Look for more details in upcoming newsletters.

We held our first meeting with our Freshman Welcome Committee volunteers this past week. Don’t let your student miss out on the fun! Please fill out this short questionnaire with your freshman and a Welcome Volunteer for your geographic area will reach out shortly to loop you in.
