Even though many of the activities of our academic teams will be curtailed this year, the PA still gives generously to support them. Our vaunted robotics teams – the Sciborgs and the FeMaidens – will continue as will our nationally renowned Speech & Debate team.
Associate Director of Speech and Debate Timothy Huth provided the following update:
“PA funding is vital to the Bronx Science Speech & Debate Team. This year we are attending over 60 virtual tournaments from coast to coast, which would not be possible without the generous support of the Bronx Science Parents’ Association. Your support helps reduce the cost of tournament fees and helps provide financial aid for families. This is essential for making the team accessible to all.
This year, the Speech & Debate Team welcomed over 130 new novices for a total of 370 active team members — one of the largest teams in the country. All competitions and practices this year are virtual, but even so, all team members are still able to compete around the country. Our team has already achieved great success by earning seven qualifications to the 2021 Tournament of Champions National Championship and 11 qualifications to the 2021 New York State tournament in the first month of the season. Your support matters and we are thankful to the entire Parents’ Association for your continued support of the Bronx Science Speech & Debate Team!”
