Dear Bronx Science parents,
We hope your family is spending some of this three-day weekend catching up on sleep and rest. Your child will probably be doing quite a bit of studying for midyear exams this weekend. As many of you know, in-class midyears continue this week, and uniform midyears will take place the week after.
How can you be helpful and supportive over the next two weeks? What can you do to make sure your child is developing effective study habits? If he or she gets anxious before or during tests, how can you help? Come to our next PA meeting on Thursday, January 18, at 7pm. Our guest speaker that evening will be Jed Applerouth, an expert in educational psychology. He will speak to BxSci parents about effective study habits, gender-based differences in performance and learning, and various ways that parents can help their teens both academically and emotionally.
Jed has spoken at Stuyvesant and at other top high schools, not just in NYC but across the country. Read our Q&A with him here. At the end of the meeting, he will raffle off two free consultation packages that include a SAT/ACT diagnostic test and a tutoring session.
As always, Vallo will provide free round-trip bus service for parents from Manhattan and Queens. Click here for pickup times and locations, and don’t forget to call 718-961-7600 to reserve your bus seat. See you on Thursday!
