At our next PA Meeting, on October 21st, from 7pm – 9pm, our guest speaker will be Kalman A. Chany, a nationally recognized expert on educational financing. He is the founder and president of Campus Consultants Inc., a Manhattan-based financial aid advisory firm. Kal is also the author of the annually-updated Princeton Review guidebook, “Paying for College Without Going Broke”. With a foreword by former President Bill Clinton, the 23rd edition will be published in late October 2014.

Kal has appeared on ABC’s “Good Morning America”, ABC World News Tonight, CBS Evening News, CNN, FOX Business News, NBC Nightly News, CNBC’s “Closing Bell”, PBS’ “Nightly Business Report” and has guested on National Public Radio. He is also a frequent information source for the Associated Press, Money Magazine, the New York Times, USA TODAY, the Wall Street Journal and other publications.

This presentation will cover common myths, how eligibility for need-based aid and merit scholarships is determined, borrowing strategies, key points regarding 529 plans, tax benefits, and other money-saving options. Because early planning is often the key to reducing college costs regardless of family income, this presentation is appropriate for parents of students of all grade levels.
