December 14th, 2014
Dear Bronx Science Families,
As the holidays approach, there continues to be a flurry of activity at Bronx Science. While our children count down the days to the break, parents have a variety of activities of their own.
The monthly “Breakfast with the Principal” is Tuesday at 8:30am. The topics will be the PSAT results, the New SAT format and all you’d like to know about SAT Subject Tests. Join Principal, Dr. Donahue and members of our Guidance Department and College Office for a substantive discussion and a light breakfast.
“Paying for College Night” is Wednesday, December 17th, from 7pm to 9pm in the auditorium. Don’t miss this very informative evening. Free Vallo bus service is provided.
Many thanks to all those who volunteered to help out last Tuesday at the Senior Research Students dinner. It was quite a crowd and, as always, Anna Schuchmann ran the show impeccably. Also many thanks to Heather Gibble, Co-Chair for the event, for helping to organize the dinner as well as recruiting our wonderful volunteers.
The Bronx Science PA, as well as the PAs of the other specialized high schools, participated at the City Council’s Education Committee hearing on the SHSAT last Thursday. We want to thank the Bronx Science parents who attended. This is an issue that is only getting started, and we will keep you informed every step of the way. If the Committee votes to move Resolution forward, to the full City Council, we all must get involved and voice our opposition by contacting our City Council members individually, by email, phone, or at their district offices. Get involved and proclaim your opposition to the Resolution. If you need further information, do not hesitate to contact us.
In the holiday spirit, continue to “Shop to Donate”. Support the PA so we can continue to support our children.
