We hope our first eNewsletter finds you enjoying the early days of summer.
As we plan for the upcoming year together, we want to start with a few acknowledgements and announcements.
Welcome new families! First, we warmly welcome all our incoming new families to the Bronx Science community! There was an impressive turnout for the new parent Meet and Greet on June 28th, and it was a reminder of the energy our new families bring. A big thank you to our parent volunteers (see below) who stepped up to help, and an extra thank you to Rhonda Sidial, who has led our hospitality efforts for the past several years. The Parents’ Association (PA) depends upon the enthusiasm of our Bronx Science families, and we look forward to welcoming new families into the PA and its leadership. See the post below for opportunities to help with our hospitality needs!
Connect with other families. We also encourage our incoming freshman and sophomore families who are interested in connecting with other families in their area to complete the following Googlesurvey. The survey will stay open until Friday, July 22nd. For those who have already indicated interest in leading a group, thank you. We will be in touch.
Summer socials. For some summertime fun, we invite our new incoming families to the Queens NightMarket on Saturday, August 13 from 5:00-7:00 PM. Queens Night Market is a family-friendly, open-air night market, with great food vendors, art and more. To get there, take the 7 train to 111th Street. The Market is located behind the New York Hall of Science. For more detailed transit and venue information, please visit the Queens Night Market webpage.
To all our Bronx Science families, please be on the lookout for an end-of-summer update from us, which will include information on an outdoor social to start the new school year!
And finally, we want to say thank you one more time to our prior Co-Presidents, Jerome Kramer and CliffStanton. We are grateful for their leadership and commitment over the past two years and wish them all the best going forward.
Enjoy the summer and see you all soon. We can’t wait to get started!
Cordially,
Christine Kattan, Jayesh Patel & Elizabeth Polkovitz
