It was a Spring Gala for the ages! Thanks to your generosity, the PA raised over $160,000 for the school, including nearly $30,000 for our soon-to-be-renovated, state-of-the-art, multi-media lecture hall in Room 131 (see below).
We couldn’t have been happier to see the sellout crowd enjoying a truly special evening this past Thursday. The efforts of the incredible Tracy Ballas, May Yee and the entire Gala Committee Team (see In the Spotlight below) paid off with a community gathering that brought people face-to-face in a way we quite literally had never had the pleasure to see during the past two-plus years. The bartenders were in great form, the food was outstanding, the dance floor was shaking, and smiles and laughter abounded. Add to that the welcome presence of a parade of past and forever BxSci PA superstars (including celebrity auctioneer Lonnie Quinn of WCBS-TV), it was a night to remember. We want to extend our deepest gratitude and offer a hearty congratulations to the committee—and everyone who participated or attended—on an enormously successful evening. Work for the PA’s signature fundraising event began back in September. It required meticulous attention to detail and countless hours of planning, organizing and cajoling. And, it’s not over! Please see how you can still contribute to the Room 131/Meister project (see below).
Speaking of volunteers … If you have the time, we still need help to greet parents and students of the Class of 2026 and sell merchandise the evening of June 8th and at Alumni Day on June 12th. Please click here to sign up for the Accepted Students Open House on June 8th. And click here to sign up for Alumni Day on June 12th. Thank you in advance for your service to the school and the PA.
Our next virtual PA meeting will be this Wednesday, May 18th at 7:00pm and will feature: a) PA Executive Board and SLT election (see our uncontested slate and nominee bios below); and b) a State of the School Address by Principal Rachel Hoyle and AP Andrew Nasser.
IMPORTANT: Since we are conducting an election, we ask all who want to attend to register here. Once you register you will receive a separate email with login information.
Minutes for the April 28th meeting can be found here.
