Dear Fellow Parents & Guardians,
Let’s celebrate a milestone! We’re now more than a month into our kids’ return to school. In-person instruction, in-person clubs and in-person sports are in full swing. It’s hard to express how heartwarming it is to see Bronx Science students gather to hang around Harris Field on an early Fall afternoon, taking in a game, laughing, talking, texting (of course) … and generally living like high school teenagers. It’s equally thrilling to know that they have reunited with their friends, teachers, staff, administrators—and food truck vendors. That we have been able to arrive at this moment—and feel cautiously optimistic that normal high school life will continue—is a credit to the individuals and families of our entire school community who made the necessary sacrifices and commitments over the preceding year and a half.
Of course, that very important work continues. It’s an understatement to say it will be interesting to see how the general elections in New York City play out early next month, and how those may augur for the future of the nation’s larger politics. On a much more local scale, but one we feel is of the utmost importance to our community, we will be holding our own School Leadership Team and Parents’ Association Executive Board virtual elections in just a couple of days. We encourage you to read the candidate bios here and to join us for the election Tuesday, Oct. 19 at 7 pm. See registration login instructions and the minutes from our September meeting below. A robust, committed SLT and PA Executive Board enable us to help provide for the excellent experience that our students enjoy at Bronx Science.
Speaking of which … we’re thrilled that AP Andrew Nasser is bringing another of his excellent presentations to the meeting on Tuesday as well. He’ll moderate a panel of Bronx Science students, representing different grades, interests, concerns and pursuits, yet all sharing one reality: Making the Most of Bronx Science.
Cheers,
Jerome Kramer and Cliff Stanton
