Dear Parents & Guardians:
It’s Auction Time!
Our online auction is live, but the main event, our Virtual Gala & Auction will be Saturday, May 15th from 7:30 to 9:00pm. Even in the virtual format, the Gala is the PA’s signature fundraising and community building event of the year. Net proceeds go directly to fund critical school programs. Our PA Auction Committee, which begins it’s work in the Fall, has put together an incredible lineup and what promises to be a truly enjoyable evening.
Zoom here for the Live Auction.
Next, we want to thank the members of the Transportation Information Committee for their incredibly hard work and for holding a highly informative forum last Tuesday. If you missed it, you can watch it in its entirety here. If you haven’t already, please take a few minutes to take this quick transportation preference survey before Monday, May 10 (tomorrow) at 10 a.m. Please see below for more information.
YOUR ACTION REQUIRED: The PA is working with the Bronx Science Alumni Foundation to secure critical funding to complete the final phase of the renovation of our cafeteria. We urgently need to lobby the NYC City Council to include the funding for this project in the upcoming city budget. Here’s how you can help: Please open this letter that we are asking parents to date, sign and then email with the subject line “Bronx Science Reso-A request” to City Council Speaker Corey Johnson at SpeakerJohnson@council.nyc.gov and Council Finance Director Latonia McKinney at lmckinney@council.nyc.gov requesting the funding. If you’re so inclined, you can send the same letter to your City Council Members. Find your representative to City Hall here. See more information below.
Our next PA meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 11th. At this meeting, Principal Rachel Hoyle will deliver her State of the School report. We will also be holding elections for Executive Board and School Leadership Team positions (see the list of nominees below and nominees bios here.) We encourage all parents to participate. Because we are holding an election, if you intend to join us, you must register here for the meeting by Tuesday at noon. Once you’ve completed your registration, you will need to receive the Zoom link. Minutes from the 4/14 meeting can be viewed here. |
Speaking of elections, the NYC Community Education Council (CEC) Elections are taking place now. CEC’s help shape policies and priorities for NYC public schools and are made up of parents like you. You can find information on how to register and vote here.
Finally, please see a special thank you below to the PA from our wonderful Parent Coordinator Cindy Golan. Cindy, back at you. Thank you for all you do for our school.
Looking forward to seeing you all Tuesday evening. Happy Mother’s Day!
