Every few weeks, we’ll be highlighting one or more parents who volunteer their time and talent at Bronx Science. We’re fortunate to have such an active and dedicated parent community! Today, we’re featuring Lise Aug, who is in charge of designing and sending out the PA’s weekly e-blast – the very newsletter that you are reading right now. Every weekend, she sets aside time for the e-blast, always making sure that it looks great and that it reaches parents’ inboxes on Sunday.
In addition, Lise co-chairs the PA Sponsorship Team along with Heather Ahram and Wendy Turett-Ross. This amazing threesome is responsible for securing sponsors for the PA. (Sponsors, some of whose ads appear at the bottom of each e-blast, help us pay for the refreshments served at all PA meetings.)
Lise is a Manhattan mother of two. Her son is a BxSci sophomore; her daughter is a college freshman. Here’s what she has to say about volunteering at Bronx Science:
“I got involved out of curiosity. My husband, brother, and father all attended Bronx Science – and now my son does, too, so I was anxious to see the inner workings of the school. I’m pleased to support a storied NYC experience! I, myself, graduated from a specialized high school, so I fully appreciate the life-changing possibilities that Bronx Science provides its students.”
Our thanks to Lise for everything she does for our school!
If you too would like to volunteer in some capacity, please fill out this online form. Volunteer opportunities abound throughout the year, and not all of them require you to travel to the Bronx. (Right now, we’re particularly interested in parents who have skills in video editing/production and graphic design. Please contact us if you have these skills!) By volunteering, you’ll meet new people, have some fun, and develop an even greater appreciation for how wonderful our school is.
