Hello Bronx Science Parents:
We hope the first two days of school went smoothly for your kids! As the students get back into the rhythm of the school year, we hope you too will get into the rhythm of participating in the Bronx Science community. One way to do that would be to attend the first PA meeting of the year on Tuesday, September 26, at 7:00 pm.
Freshman parents will get an overview from the administration on all of our communication networks, including PupilPath and Naviance. Sophomore, junior, and senior parents will break out by grade to get an overview on what the year ahead will look like for their children. We will also take nominations for the freshman parent positions on the School Leadership Team and the PA Executive Board. These are great ways to get involved in your child’s high-school experience, so if you are the parent of a 9th grader, please consider running for one of these positions!
In addition, we will be voting on additional PA funding for faster and more reliable Internet access. The school has an assertive plan for increasing bandwidth, at an estimated cost of $120,000 this school year. There is already $50,000 in the budget for Internet-related expenses, so we will be voting to approve a $70,000 infusion from our surplus to cover the rest. This is a costly undertaking, but one that we believe is absolutely worthwhile: in almost every BxSci class, the Internet is critical to effective instruction.
As always, Vallo will provide free bus transportation from Manhattan and Queens (click HERE for info on how to reserve your seat).
Also, some fantastic Bronx Science merchandise will be available for sale at the meeting. See you on the 26th!
