Carnival at Bronx Science was a huge success. The PA sponsored four-lunch-period event brought inflatables, games and goodies to a courtyard of revelry. Students got to ring the bell of the hi-striker and dunk their favorite AP of Guidance (and other staffers). Thank you and congratulations to the S.O. for organizing this special day at BxSci. This is why we do it!
The Talent Show was another great event, with knockout performances — song, dance, comedy, instrumental and more — from our amazing students. The raw talent was something to behold, but the enthusiastic shows of support from peers and families made it truly heartwarming. Keep an eye out for other opportunities for us to gather as a school community.
For instance…more than 100 Bronx Science students, staff, family and friends attended Thursday night’s Yankee Game. And despite some early storm warnings, it was a nearly perfect outing for the Yankees and for us. See pics below.
Let’s keep it going! We want to invite all Bronx Science families to an end-of-year social at Ellington in the Park (lower level at the amphitheater style seating/stairs) at approximately W. 105th St in Riverside Park, Manhattan today Sunday, June 5th from 4:00 to 6:00pm. RSVP not required but helpful president@bxsciencepa.org.
And please join us for our next and final virtual PA meeting of the school year Wednesday, June 15th at 7:00pm, which will feature a panel of returning BxSci grads discussing their experiences in college and life after Science.
Finally, even in this season of celebration and joy, we would be remiss if we didn’t acknowledge the hurt, disgust, anxiety and outrage that so many of us have been feeling since Uvalde, Buffalo … Parkland … Sandy Hook … Columbine. There are no words we can offer to help make sense of it all. Instead, please see below the work being done by Everytown for Gun Safety to fight for a future without the fear of gun violence. If you know of other organizations or entities engaged in this critical work, please let us know about them. Thank you.
Our next Book Club meeting will be on Thursday, Feb. 25th at 7:00pm, when we discuss The Omnivore’s Dilemma by Michael Pollan. To RSVP for this month’s meeting, or if you have questions, contact BxSciPABookClub@gmail.com and…
