Dear Fellow Parents & Guardians:

As you may already know, the PA has been working closely with the administration to update and upgrade our school website. It’s been eight years since the current site was launched. We hope the new site will be live (upon administration approval) this June, and while it may undergo further changes, we are pleased to share a preview of the homepage with you now. Drum roll please!

Presenting the near future Bronx Science homepage …

Upon completion, the new site will have been the result of many hours of exhaustive and meticulous internal review with staff, parents and students, in conjunction with our outside vendor, Educational Networks.

On behalf of a grateful PA, many thanks to Executive Board members Christine Kattan and Dorie Lederfajn Paparo for the expertise, patience and professionalism they have brought to this endeavor. And a particular thank you to AP Phoebe Cooper, who is serving as the invaluable administration contact for this work.

Speaking of expertise … the PA is in active recruitment mode for some key positions on next year’s Executive Board. After two years of incredible service, PA Treasurer Ken Ho will be stepping down. We are putting out a special call to parents with a background in finance to self-nominate for this vital position. Additionally, we are seeking candidates for several positions (see below) and are particularly in need of individuals with technical expertise to help with online meetings and communication.Anyone interested or seeking more information is encouraged to email us at: nominations@bxsciencepa.org

PLEASE SEE A SPRING GALA UPDATE AND A MESSAGE ABOUT THE NYC SCHOOL SURVEY BELOW.

We encourage everyone to read this heart-wrenching NYT op-ed written by Bronx Science alumnus Patricia Park ’99 about the personal and social impact of the recent spate of Asian hate crimes.  Finally, our next virtual meeting will be held on Wednesday, March 23rd at 7:00pm. Topic: How to Have Difficult Conversations with Teens moderated by AP Andrew Nasser. Hear from a panel of experts – our students – regarding communicating with your teen.

Cheers,

Jerome Kramer & Cliff Stanton
