Dear Fellow Parents & Guardians:

We hope all of our kids were able to enjoy the long weekend. A short week means a slow news week, so we would like to take this mid-Winter opportunity to highlight a few of our students’ notable extracurricular endeavors.

For starters, check out the latest issue of The Science Survey here. This from its own website… “The Science Survey is the award-winning student newspaper of The Bronx High School of Science, and it has been published continuously since our high school was founded in 1938. It is planned, researched, written, edited, and designed entirely by students as part of the elective ‘Journalism: Newspaper & Yearbook’ class, and it is published in a print edition and also online.”

Next up … Dynamo. Also founded in 1938, Dynamo is Bronx Science’s award-winning Literary Magazine. You can view the recently published digital copy of the 2021 edition hereIt’s an astounding collection of images, poetry and reflections from this long-standing after-school club.

Last but not least, please enjoy the latest episode of Wolverine TV here.

If you haven’t done so already, mark your calendars now for our next virtual PA Meeting on Wednesday, February 16th at 7:00pm. This meeting will feature a course selection presentation featuring Assistant Principals Allison Davis, Ph D., and Andrew Nasser; and a parent panel of recently graduated BxSci students answering your questions around the theme What I Wish I Knew Before My Kid Went to College.  AND, for a change of pace, please join us for BxSci Virtual Comedy Night on Thursday, March 3rd (see details below). You can purchase tickets for the entire family here.

Finally, it’s college admissions season. Congratulations to our seniors who have already been accepted to their school of choice via Early Decision and Early Action; best of luck to those who are still waiting on Regular Decisions; and chin up to those who didn’t make their first choice. Good things come to those who wait.

Cheers,

Jerome Kramer & Cliff Stanton

Black History Month, first celebrated in the U.S. 52 years ago, provides a rich opportunity to consider the impact made by and credit due to Black Americans;
we encourage you to take advantage of that chance this February.
