Dear Fellow Parents & Guardians:

You are cordially invited to attend our first in-person PA meeting of the calendar year this Wednesday, December 15th.

To assist in planning, we kindly ask all parents who intend to join us to RSVP here now.

While the PA will livestream the meeting, we don’t want anyone to miss the celebration and an opportunity to meet our school leadership in person.

You can watch the livestream starting at 7:30pm here.

Minutes for the November PA meeting can be viewed here.

The in-person fun starts at 6:30pm this Wednesday, December 15th. Our featured guest will be Eleanor Coufos (Class of ’99), VP of the Bronx High School of Science Alumni Foundation. Eleanor will share her wealth of knowledge with us, including exciting AF-driven Bronx Science developments, and tips for how our kids can make the most of their summers.

Come hungry as the PA will convert the school gymnasium into an alcohol-free, COVID-protocol-guided happy hour lounge from 6:30-7:30pm. Plus, bring your checkbook and prepare to do some holiday shopping at the first live Bronx Science swag market. Be prepared for an evening of fun, solidarity and holiday cheer.

In that spirit, we are asking for a little help:

For those who have been waiting for an opportunity to volunteer for the PA, this is your moment. Please consider signing up here for set-up, food service, merchandise sales and/or clean-up.

Also, please note: The school will require that all attendees wear a mask, show proof of full vaccination and present a DOE health screening survey (the same ones our kids fill out daily). This survey must be filled out the same day as our meeting. You can access the survey here.

We had a nice Bronx Science turnout at the Tuesday screening of Try Harder! a highly acclaimed documentary about the rigors of the college admissions process as experienced by the seniors at a selective and predominantly Asian public high school in San Francisco. Parents who availed themselves of free tickets provided by sponsor organization Stand With Asians enjoyed a poignant, uplifting and often laugh-out-loud story. This is must-see viewing for Bronx Science parents and guardians. Catch it in theaters or soon on streaming. And let us know what you think of it! We’re interested in arranging a screening for BxSci students.

Finally, congratulations to the FeMaidens, one of our two vaunted Robotics Teams who were awarded the 2021 Altice Innovator Awards for their design of FitPETZ – a multiplayer, user-friendly game, which has changed the scope of active-play accessibility to the disabled. See photo below.

Looking forward,
