Bronx High School of Science Parents' Assocation

News from our Co-Presidents: October 10, 2021

Dear Fellow Parents & Guardians,

We hope you’re enjoying the three-day weekend, celebrating Italian Heritage Day/Indigenous Peoples’ Day. The holiday’s recent re-branding speaks volumes about the complexities of current cultural and political mores; it’s another occasion for us to be grateful that our students are earning their educations in an institution that so enthusiastically engages in, represents and explores this varied landscape.

Which brings us to our sole order of business today: The upcoming Parents’ Association and School Leadership Team elections, which will be held virtually at our next PA meeting, Tuesday, October 19 at 7pm. Our hope, as always, is to have the broad range of talent and backgrounds that make up our parent and guardian population well-represented on the PA executive board and the SLT, so we’re delighted that many folks have stepped up to run for positions: three member-at-large openings on the board and one for the SLT. You can find their candidate bios here. Please take the time to read these over, and join us for the election meeting the week after next.

It is worth noting that, following the election, we will feature another outstanding presentation moderated by AP Andrew Nasser, How to Make the Most of Bronx Science, featuring a panel of experienced BxSci students, as well as the invaluable Principal’s Report from Principal Rachel Hoyle.

Cheers,
Jerome Kramer and Cliff Stanton
