Bronx High School of Science Parents' Assocation

Your donations at work – Clubs

Clubs are such a critical part of the Bronx Science experience. This year, they will take on even greater importance as one of the main ways in which our students can stay connected to each other through their shared interests and passions. The school’s Coordinator of Student Affairs, Kristen Parness, described the importance of PA funding and the school’s plans for the year:

“The funding provided by the PA is the single most critical contribution to the club life here at Bronx Science!” Parness said, “with over 90 clubs spanning every possible interest you could imagine, the funding enables the staff to take on the advisory roles for these clubs, making their meetings possible.”

“Additionally, the added funds allocated to clubs to cover expenses that fall outside the DOE’s allowable expenses has enabled the students to enrich their clubs in new ways, fostering an even deeper sense of community among members,” Parness said. “This year, clubs will go on! We are currently gearing up for the club launch, with all clubs planning to meet virtually this year. Once we launch, the links for each club’s virtual meetings will be published on the Bronx Science website.”

Thanks to all the families who have already made a donation this school year!

INCLUDING … a special thanks to the 160+ Bronx Science students and parents that made contributions to a GoFundMe page at the outbreak of the pandemic. While the original goal was to provide funds to purchase PPE for the school, the DOE has provided sufficient supplies for a blended learning environment. So instead, over $8,000 from this fund was recently contributed to the PA to help the school.
