Bronx High School of Science Parents' Assocation

News from our Co-Presidents: October 4, 2020

October 4, 2020

Dear Fellow Parents & Guardians,

It may not be in the numbers we envisioned, but it’s a milestone nevertheless: Students have started to return to our school building. Administration, teachers and staff greeted the first cohort of students last Thursday with smiles (behind their masks).

AP Andrew Nasser greets students on the first day of blended learning.

With our first full week of school behind us, we want to encourage all of our families to talk openly with their students about their early experiences in this unusual year. From what we’ve heard so far, it sounds like the school is off to a good start. But if there’s anything that’s not working or seems amiss, you have options. Depending on the issue, there are many school professionals – teachers, guidance counselors, department heads – who are ready and willing to assist. If you need advice on where to turn for help, feel free to reach out to us.

A PA volunteer gives a Bronx Science mask to an arriving student.

We also want to thank all of our parents who signed up to distribute free Bronx Science masks to our blended learners as they arrive(d) for their first day of school.

Finally, a shout-out to our incredible parent volunteers who have already started working on two great community building and fundraising initiatives for this year, Comedy Night and the Spring Gala. You’ll be hearing more about these soon.
