Bronx High School of Science Parents' Assocation

Message from our Co-Presidents – December 10, 2017

Dear Bronx Science parents,

Interim report cards (for the second marking period) were sent home a few days ago, which means BxSci students are already one-third of the way through the school year! But there are still two weeks of school left in 2017, and those two weeks will be jam-packed with student activities.

There will also be a number of parent events happening, and we hope you’ll make time to come to the Bronx in December. In particular, we’d love to see you this Wednesday evening, December 13, for our last PA meeting of 2017. The topic will be “Test Secrets: Understanding and Preparing for the SAT, ACT, and More.” The timing is perfect, because your child’s PSAT scores will be available the day before the meeting. (Almost every BxSci freshman, sophomore, and junior took the PSAT in October.)

Our guest speaker will be Robin Kaufman, manager of pre-college programs at Kaplan Test Prep. Read a brief Q&A with Robin here. She’ll talk about how to interpret PSAT scores, the differences between the SAT and the ACT, recent trends in how colleges are assessing test scores, how to help your child prepare for standardized tests, and tips on reporting test scores to colleges.

There will also be a raffle for a free SAT or ACT prep course that a student can take either online or in person. Every parent attending the meeting will receive a raffle ticket. So don’t miss out! As always, Vallo will provide free bus service to parents from Manhattan and Queens; click here for pickup times and locations, and call 718-961-7600 to reserve a bus seat.

See you Wednesday,

Elizabeth Langwith and Monica Toriello
PA Co-Presidents
