Bronx High School of Science Parents' Assocation

Welcome Message from our Co-Presidents – November 30th, 2014

November 30th, 2014

Dear Bronx Science Families,

We hope that all of you have had a wonderful Thanksgiving break, in the company of family and friends. It’s a great opportunity for children and parents alike to recharge our batteries as we head into December.

There are many exciting events on the horizon. The Fall play, The Diary of Anne Frank, will be performed in the auditorium on Wednesday, December 3rd and Thursday, December 4th. The Winter Concert will be the following week on Wednesday, December 10th and Thursday, December 11th. Check the Bronx Science website for show times. Come out and support the students who have worked so hard over the last few weeks!!

Our next PA meeting will be on Wednesday, December 10th from 7pm to 9pm. Our topic is “Parenting in the Digital Age”, featuring Linnette Attai of PlayWell and Jamie Propp of TechDad. Click on the link in the PA Meeting box below for more information.

IMPORTANT SHSAT NEWS: On October 22nd, the City Council introduced a resolution calling for a change in the admission criteria to New York City’s Specialized High Schools. The Bronx Science Parents’ Association, along with the PAs of the other specialized high schools, oppose any changes to the admission criteria. On Thursday, December 11th at 10am, the City Council will meet at City Hall in an open forum to discuss the matter. Those of us who oppose any changes to the SHSAT are asked to attend and/or speak. In addition, there will be a rally on the steps of City Hall to protest the proposed changes. You may click on the link below to learn more about the resolution, and how you can contact City Council members to voice your opposition. Also, you should feel free to contact Shanti and I with any additional questions you may have.
