The PA Safety Committee urges all parents of blended learning students who plan to drive their children to school and driving age students who will be driving themselves to school: please obey all traffic laws of the City of New York and New York State.
With Vallo buses out of the equation, we expect many students to arrive by passenger vehicle. In years past, parents have observed drivers speeding up and making illegal U-turns to avoid getting stuck at the traffic light on W. 205th St. (the street in front of the school).
It should go without saying that this creates an acute safety hazard to student pedestrians crossing the street and other drivers who are obeying the traffic laws. It just takes one mistake to change lives irrevocably.
If everyone simply obeys the traffic rules, our children will be safer. It’s that simple. It’s that important. PLEASE do the right thing.
